A conversation: Vandana Shiva & Emma Holten

On October 12 we were honored to host a conversation between the Indian physicist, seed saver, farmer, warrior and mother Vandana Shiva and the Danish activist, editor and gender expert Emma Holten representing Oxfam IBIS Copenhagen. It became a conversation around a global economy that doesn’t produce wealth, only increasing inequality. No life is produced, only things in a flow distributed by underpaid workers of the world. It was a conversation about how to learn from nature in creating a language that is caring, non hierarchical, non evolutionary, non fighting and how to nature global solidarity across differences. The event marked the release of the Danish translation ‘Oikonomia: At bringe økonomien tilbage til Jorden’ translated by Christel Pedersen. The event and publication is meant to extend the thoughts shared by Dr. Shiva on that day - thoughts that, while not new, are more important than ever. It was indeed a thought-provoking and moving experience, and with the permission of both Emma Holten and Vandana Shiva you can listen to the recording of the conversation here. A big thank you to Oxfam IBIS Copenhagen and Union KBH for being a part of realising this event.
